Astron Engineering was delighted to be nominated for four bespoke units in Gerards Deli, No. 4 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin. We built and delivered the cold sandwich serve-over, hot unit, coffee counter and the soup/preparation tables.
Gerard’s Deli has been a welcome sight to Dublin breakfast and lunch consumers for 10 Years. Its recent renovation brings back that sophisticated charm of Georgian Dublin shops to a cities hungry population.
Customer select their sandwich fillings from Ottolenghi-styled bowls in the air cooled Cold Display. The bonded glass box, framed with a black boarder, is 3 meters long. The unit is finished in a distressed distillery wood. At the back, a sandwich preparation bar, bag holders and under-counter cold storage make the most of this operational space.
The Coffee Counter and till area is made to measure, fitting the space allocated. The unit combines a number of services concealed from the customer, while easy to operate. All counter-tops are stained to match the back shelf displays in the shop.
The Hot Counter contains a removable hot plate for carvery service during breakfast and lunch times. This can be replaced by a wooden chopping board for preparation and display during the rest of the day. 3no. 1/3 size gastronorm trays fit into a heated well from underneath while 3no. over counter warm lamps keep product warmed from the top. The unit matches the same bonded black boxed glass and distillery wood finish as the Cold Display.
The Soup and Preparation areas were designed in stainless steel to maximize the functionality of the back operations area. The curved Soup Counter corner gives that little bit more space between it and the Cold Display for fast-paced service. 3no. Soup warmers keep a selection of soups at the right temperature. A wash-hand basin and bin chute are located in the corner space with a long preparation area extending into the kitchen/bakery area.
Gerard’s Deli has an extremely well designed feeling of space combined with an old-world-charm and an inviting welcome. Come see our Astron built units in a central location in Dublin, just off St. Stephen’s Green. Then, call us with your designs.
SuperValu Killester has two stunning new units built and supplied by Astron Engineering Limited. This new Fish Counter and Double-Sided Salad Bar were colour coded to match our customers desired scheme.
